One of Tim Burton’s smartest and most creative pictures abandons his morbid-lite tropes to find big fun in Sci-fi spectacle. A ‘Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad’ enlargement of a bubble gum card set, it pulls in most every big star Burton could ask for. It may have not been the movie-going flavor of the year in 1996, yet we’ll take its affectionate satire over funereal gloom any time.
