CineSavant Column
Hello!
The welcome Milestone Newsletter for April 2023 has some good listings & links — to disappearing newspapers, political suppression in Nazi Germany — but also . . .
. . . some links to an organization called Missing Movies. One of them goes to a list of 101 Missing Films, feature films that seemingly can’t be seen anywhere. There are of course many more than 101 … I immediately thought of the 1970 movie Darker than Amber.
Long ago, DVD Savant kept a list of pictures readers wanted to see on disc, and would annotate the list when DVDs and Blu-rays were released. It ended up being almost as much work as running the review website, so it had to stop.
And CineSavant’s sometime associate Marc Edward Heuck has a new link up. Heuck is the webpage critic for the New Beverly Theater, Quentin Tarantino’s movie house about half a mile West of here.
This month’s article is about the film company Amicus, its omnibus horror films and especially one written by Robert Bloch, The House that Dripped Blood. It carries a typically clever Heuck title: Grue Guys ‘n the Bloch.
